Ross Rifle

New member. Have found a lot of real good advise and good amount of information on this site. I have a M-10 Ross that has been sporterized. It has extremly nice wood and is a great shooting rifle. For whatever reason the wood was cut off and a flat iron sight put on. My eyes are not as good as they were, and I would like to put the original peep sight back on. The problem is the pin attachments on the base have been ground off. Where might I find one. There does not seem to be a lot of Ross parts for sale. I would like to get a original Ross M-10 some day but they are getting hard to find as well. I have some enfields I might trade.

If you do in fact have a Ross M-10, it hasn't been "Sporterised"- it was built by Ross as their top-of-the-line Sporter, chambered only in .280 Ross.I strongly suspect that what you do have is the remains of an original Ross MkIII Military rifle, chambered only in .303 British. If such is the case, simplest solution to go back to the original peep-sight is to contact me, and I can supply you with both the original sight and the receiver bridge to replace your butchered one.
This offer is only open to residents of the US of A. Sir Charles would reach down and smack me upside my head were I ever to allow anything Ross to return north of the razor-wire to Kanada.

Well it was a military rifle once upon a time for sure. It is 303 caliber like you say and has the stamping CRB with a 4 digit #. The barrel on the top of the chamber is stamped LC. I've read where the stampings mean that the chambers were reamed but nobody knows for sure it seems. Takes old 303 ammo and the action is smooth. The wood has no markings, looks like it could be original but shaved down Anyways I don't think Sir Charles would mind some of his legacy coming north. I would like to semi restore the rifle. would need the base and sight. As well the middle band and the fore sight cover. I'm going to remove the flat iron sight and put the top wood back on. Will make a excellent hunting rifle as well as a nice looking 'gun'. Anyone have parts for sale.

I have a Ross also. It's in excellent shape and is .303. It, at first glance, appears "sporterized" ; however I found out that many were cut down while in use during the war and I even found a WW1 picture of a Canadian GI holding a rifle in the same configuration as mine in the trenches.
Mine has RCMP marking on the butt plate, which I found out is not uncommon either.

I'm sure that there are many people who would appreciate it. What side of the 'wire' are you on.

I am in the US- Grt Lakes region. I actually have a few things that have been locked up and unappreciated that I want to find collector homes for. 2 reasons- 1 is I don't want some yahoo getting ahold of a firearm and 2 is that I appreciate history and want someone that is into preservation, learning, etc to get the benefit.

don't know why I have a Maple Leaf as I am south of the wire. I was pleased to see that our new president traveled to our good friends to the north on his first trip, per longstanding tradition as opposed to our previous exec. Canada is our best friend.
