What makes this pistol so interesting (to me, anyway) is that's it's one of only 23 commercials that didn't get transferred to the military and that it was sold (or gifted?) commercially in July 1944...about 2 years after Colt shut off all commercial sales. The Swartz safety is a given at that serial range. The hand finished action and history of how the pistol was transferred and who it was shipped to is sort of interesting, too.
When it comes to C/M re-numbers, nobody likes them more than I do. I show about 20 of them on my web site. But I'd never seen a commercial GM with a serial number this high before, so it got my attention.![]()
