A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. 1895 Chilean Mauser

Hello, I'm new to this forum and recently acquired an 1895 Chileanicon Mauser. The stock has been sporterized and the rest of the original stock bits are not present. The metalmwork is in very good condition although re-blued. The bore is not bright and shiny as could be expected of a rifle over 100 years young. I would like to get the head space checked and a general evaluation done of the complete rifle before taking it to the range. Can anyone here recommend a gunsmith in the southern NH or southern ME area.

    Thanks

    Hello from North Carolina

I am not a Military collector. I am rather eclectic in my collection. I hope to learn a bit about military collecting. Hopefully my knowledge of a bit of everything will be a contribution.

    Hi from Australia

I am a 66 year old pensioner who has been a firearms owner for over 50 years. I am not a collector as such but loves fine weaponry.

I am about to purchase a new AIA rifle and have been looking for a Travel Chest for the L42A1 which will be best suited in my opinion to this rifle although the company selling the rifle said it would not look out of place in the earlier Travel Chest.

    Cheers for now,

    Jeff Gray

Hi, I'm Josh, been shooting since I was a kid. Don't have my firearms licence yet but I'm pretty sure I've got the early stages of full-blown Enfielditis....
Currently trying to talk Dad into letting me have my grandfather's old 1918 No.1 MkIII, it has a VERY worn barrel (tends to send bullets sideways through whatever you're shooting at, provided you can hit it in the first place lol) but he also has an unused surplus No.1 MkIII heavy barrel tucked away for it somewhere. Has the bayonet and sling to go with it as well.
It would be my first Enfield, but most definitely not my last.

    Hello all.
I found this site while searching the 'net for a bayonet question.
Looked like a friendly bunch, so I registered.
I've been a Milsurp fan since I was a kid. Started collecting patches and odds and ends like that. Got into bayonets, then uniforms, then firearms, then........
Well you guys know that story.

Looking forward to interacting and learning from the folks here.

    Larry

    Rule .303 who I am

Hi, My name is John. I've been a fan of military arms since my teens. My Father collected guns in my youth, and always took my brother and I out to shoot. The guns that I received from him, as the years went on, included a No.1 Mark V 1922, as well as an Argentineicon 1909 Mauser. He bought these from Kleins Sporting Goods, for about $12.50 each. I've picked up a couple Ishapore Enfieldswithin the last 12 years, and have found them to be quite accurate and reliable. Those I picked up for $65.00 each. I've been promised a No.5 Mark I Jungle Carbine, by a relative whose Father bought it from my Father. I'm in the process of refurbishing my Mark V, with new stock wood from EFD, and replacement hardware. There's a wealth of information in these forums, and I'm hoping to help, wher I can.
