Most of the prime contractors were informed of their contracts being cancelled in Jan. 1944(IIRC),almost all curtailed their parts productions as not to have extra parts. Ordnance Dept. probably told them "I will not pay you for 2 months of parts on the cancellation day". Rockola was the only prime contractor that was able to go into May 1944 and produce carbines(little over 9000). So chances are the pieces were replaced during some type of repair.
