Some units were issued weapons as soon as they got off the boat in Franceicon depending on what type of unit they were. I know of one medical unit where the orderlies were issued brand new Winchester carbines right out of the shipping crate, a sling and oiler, a pouch ,three magazines and a box of ammo.
