    Occasional Cocking Problem

After firing, ejecting then loading my M1903 sometimes I have to manually pull the cocking piece. What is the cause and what is the remedy. Thanks.

Your description suggests that you have a binding trigger or, less likely, a binding sear.

Your rifle's trigger should move freely back and forth in the trigger guard. If you feel any dragging or binding, then that's likely the source of your problem.

On a less likely note, your rifle's sear could be gummed up with old grease and/or have a weak spring. In that case, disassemble your rifle and clean it.

    Hope this helps.

    Trigger & Sear Are Free

Thanks, John. Trigger & sear move very freely.
