    All factory original Remington buttplates were blued. Overhauled (refinished) and war time replacement contract buttplates were parkerized.

    to confuse the matter worse, iv had new in the wrap, Roller Smith made buttplates new in the package, that were blue,
    and some Rochester Products made plates, that were blue as well, and in the same box, a parkerized one...
    iv seen more parkerized SC buttplates the blue ones.

    Chuck - I'm only replying w/qoute cause I'm trying to learn the forum..

    I've got a NIW Blue SC Buttplate. Package is marked as follows:

    notta problem, its not an issue with me here, as its part of how to respond.
    with the old forum, guys did it to throw your words back at you when they didnt agree with you, like a teenager lol. its all good
    yea know, someplace i have a new SC buttplate, ill dig around and see if i can find it, and what finish it has, i know its not marked, just in the grease paper.

    I have two SC buttplates. Both are dark, black like the shade of slate.
    Doesnt looked blued, but they are both oxidezed/chalky on the in-side.
    Were others parked in the light grey "rebuild" color?
    Sorry no camera to post pics.

    fwiw; Smith Corona made the switch to parkerized parts prior to end of production.
