The marking on the butt socket and Nock's Form looks very much like the Afghan state markings we saw on another captured or purchased rifle out of Afghanistan a while back, which was a CLLE if I remember correctly.
I don't see anything about it that shouts "Made in Peshawar", except the "BSA" attempt on the butt marking disc.
Of course some fakes are better than others, and these guys were not intimidated by complexity!
You can bet the Pathans themselves knew and know the difference between a factory made rifle and a N.W.F. one, and that might explain why this one survived so long: it was known to be the real thing.
Could also be some genuine parts on a locally made rifle.
The "BSA" mark could have just been a case of some dealer on the N.W.F. trying to "gild the lily" for his customers.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.

We need to see clearer photos of the action from different angles & some of the backsight, I think it's a KP

I'm going to have to go with real, with years of locally manufactured parts added to it to keep her going. The nosecap appears to be an early MkI part, the stock has the right contours from what I can see, trigger seems to have that graceful curve as it should..again, it seems to me to be legit. But I could be completely wrong, of course. Either way, I want it!

The apparent size of the cutoff slot is the thing that bothers me, need better pics, cant say i see the lower band retaining pin either.

After posting the above pics, i noticed the cutoff in the OPs rifle is half closed & tried mine in the same position.

I would love to get it myself, we just don't see these in NZ

Well there are a fair amount of messed up No1 Mk1's here, but that one is a bit more interesting. And the days of boxes being pushed out the back of the Herc's at Hobsonville are over
