M1917 feeding rounds with a .300 WM round

I am building a M1917, 300 WM

I do not wish to give offence, so I will refrain from saying more than that I think that this is not a good idea.

I am trying to keep the M1917 a correct as possible and I do not want to modify the receiver as it has never been modified.

So why not leave it alone? I see that you are a newcomer, and I do not wish to put off anyone who wishes to learn something from the forums, but I suggest that you read around a lot before pursuing this idea further.
