Other things aside, I see the individual without headress wearing a pistol belt with two carbine 30 rd mag pouches. His personal weapon seems to be a rifle. Also he has two Carlisle pouches. Interesting...

I think the picture is addressed to "Mallary" and the signer is Dick Winters. The infamous Major Dick Winters of Band of Brothers. I think that's him with the helmet on.
Are those 30 round Carbine mag pouches?
That first pic is sweet. I don't normally see pics of a guy with a garand jumping out of a helicopter.

I believe the term would be the Famous Maj. Winters.
It does looks like him in the first photo but I thought his service ended after he was recalled in 1951.
The date and the pics confused me.....Frank

RIP Major Winters. The only thing good about Dish Network is they rerun Band Of Brothers quite often. If anyone needs a good book this winter the Stephen Ambrose book Band Of Brothers (on which the series is based) is a wonderful book.
