A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I couldn't prove it one way or another. I know lots of army fought there too.

I was kind of thinking that myself. But I'm imagining the Army was less likely to walk around in fatigues without some kind of insignia or rank or division somewhere. But I'm not really sure about that either.

They don't look like Marine fatigues. Buttons on the pockets etc. no EGA visible. I'm leaning toward Army.

The bottom pic, is that a Hawley liner under his foot? You can see the bead around the edge of the liner...It would be an early enough issue to make it possible...

I think you're right BAR, it does look like a Hawley liner.

Looks like that big heavy lip around the edge...someone tell him to get his foot out of it!
