In our book of markings that used to be available in the big workshop Armourers shops in the 60's, FR was a base workshop standard repair done at a factory. This was a means of keeping the workforce employed during slack production times. BUT it was not a FTR programme where every part is subject to an 'as-new' examination.
So FTR is Factory THOROUGH repair
FR is repair done at a factory to Base Workshop standard
We know that some of the markings have since been found to be incorrect especially relating to SMG's in foreign armies. (Nepal and Kenya seems to ring a bell.....). But generally speaking, the rifle info was all OKInformation
