Straight SG hammer,
Only thing out of place is a Type III rear sight.

I can assure you that rear sight has never been removed from that rifle since it left the factory. Regards, Rick.

I think that sight gives it some class. Could have even been done by the GI that carried it ? Never know?

The rear sights being cut to a V are not unusual on carbines. A lot of GI's were hunters who had shot a V rear sight most of their lives and were used to is. The felt that they could shoot better with the V notch then a peep as it gave them more vision then the peep did.

I still think it could be a little early for the straight hammer on this gun. Saying that doesn't mean it's not possible though. If you think, Saginaw started putting it's carbines together in May of 43. The straight hammer was more in late much later in 43. It's still a very nice carbine though no matter what. I wouldn't at all mind having it.
