As for him being fired, hey he put in his time and should be thanked. He is smart enough to figure out that those few obamma voters will eventually turn this country into ........ mess.
Not within his rights. Even though he was a volunteer, he was a representive of a non-political organiztion, and was there to teach hunter safety only.

I say" good for the instructor". I wish more pro-gun people in this country had the guts to speak out.The grandfather should know that elections have consequences. He voted for a man that wants to ban guns and hunting and then expects someone ,who volunteers his time,to instruct him and his family.Typical liberal thinking.

As loath as I am to agree with anything written by "2571", this was absolutely NOTHING more or less than an alleged adult bullying a child!
I don't care WHAT your thoughts or agenda are.....this was nothing but WRONG! Frankly, if there had been any other actual men in the room, the "Instructor" would be wondering why he ever took the luxury of being able to eat solid food for granted! The only thing that really bothers me....is that there are actually people here on CSP that agree with his boorish behavior! I thought better of us!

John K call this behavior boorish, and that's way politer than I would call it.
This reeks of indoctrination to the hitler youth (UNT who did your people vote for?) Unfair, stupid, and maybe even illegal to do this to a group of kids who are already under enough pressures. They don't need more, they'll get their share soon enough.
Where does the line get drawn once the above questioning starts? What's next, asking who was jewish and who wasn't?
That goes beyond the "socialism" word that gets used lately around here.
Only thing about this that bothers me worse is some of you think it's acceptable behavior.

I will get hammered but here goes
My son went to a shooters education class 3 times. Back then it was sponsored by the Jaccees. He won the district air rifle championship the first year, the regional championship on the third try, and had the trophies to prove it. When he graduated from high school he immediately volunteered for the U.S. Army. He was on active duty for 2.5 years and spent time in Honduras (this was when Reagan was president) guarding a fuel depot with a locked and loaded M-16.
When he was discharged he got back home just in time for deer season. He went down and tried to buy a deer tag. No way! Seems that while he was in the Army the law changed and if he wanted to hunt, then by gawd he would have to go to the required Hunter Safety School run then by the DNR. And, no there were no classes scheduled until after deer season. He did go to the first available one the next January but was so frustrated that he has yet to this day buy another hunting or fishing license.
The reason for so much frustration on his part? At the January class, one of the DNR instructors recognized him... seems he was part of the Jaycees air rifle program when Jr. won. Anyway, that a hole had the nerve to tell us: "Hey, you should have just called me. I would have 'taken care of you' with no problem." Translation; It's who you know that counts.
It seems it had nothing to do with safety. It was all about macho DNR guys taking over. They are the most corrupt, obnoxious, jerks that walk the earth. The very next spring the same s'bag was sitting in a Denny's having coffee when he overheard a guy talking about his wife bottle feeding a fawn whose mother had been killed by a car. He follows the guy back to his farm where he takes his .357 revolver and blows out the fawn's brains... right in front of the man's wife and 11 year old daughter. "You should have known feeding that deer was illegal" he says as he drives off. The DNR officer was never punished and was still on the job the last time I checked.
In this case, was the guy wrong about kicking grandpa and the kid out of the course? You dang right he was, but on the other hand he is just a typical example of these guys.
Go ahead and hammer.

Well.....I guess I'm one of your "Bad Guys"! I'm an Ohio DNR Hunters Safety Instructor (as well as an NRA Certified Marksmanship Instructor, Firearms Safety Instructor....plus one or two others). I don't work for the DNR, I just passed their Instructor course and teach the kids at our club and at the local high school.
Not sure WHY you've got your boxers in such a bunch, other than you obviously have problems with "authority"! FWIW, if I were the Instructor....your kid would have done the entire 12 hours course REGARDLESS of his military experience, or he'd never get a hunting license! My kids did it and they could have, quite literally, taught the class! There's no such thing as "too much safety training"!

He went through the class THREE times, with some of the same instructors.
He went through an indoor air-rifle course.....I teach those too.....not the same thing as a hunter's safety course! It takes care of some of it, but not all.
I guess that you may well be one of those aholes that don't give a rats arse about simple common sense.
Then there's that pesky little "compliance with state law" issue...but then we've already established your problems with things like laws and authority
Some inner city 14 year old kid who has never fired a single round can go out in the woods and hunt because he went to some 12 hour course YOU taught. BUT a 22 year old military veteran can't go hunting because he was out of the country serving his nation and wasn't there to kiss your butt at the particular class you teach. You are not interested in safety, all you want is to be Mr. Macho and show the world how powerful you are.
I didn't write the law, I'm just trying to provide a resource to permit kids that ARE willing to obey the law...do so! If you've got a problem with the law.....write your elected state officials, don't b!tch to the instructors! Oh.....in Ohio, your son would have gotten his license simply by presenting his DD-214!

well - most all of its been said , one way or the other , but its my oppinion the instructor volunteered to 'teach' a hunter safety coarse , thats what he should have done ,
if it had been also billed as a political ralley i might feel diferantly , but im fixateing on the 'requirement' aspect of the class to be able to hunt , and , the fact he 'volunteered' to enable the attendees to fullfill that requirement , he failed to perform
