Good luck on the powder - not much to be found locally in my neck of the woods. Sounds like a good buy on the brass, and you're lucky to find the bullets in stock. I just checked Midway yesterday and a lot of the bullets on my "wish list" were not available. If you can't get powder right away, you can always have some fun checking the headstamps on the brass and getting it prepped.

I picked up 4 boxes of PPU at the beginning of the buying frenzy. I thought I was lucky to get the bullets because the dealers were completely out of everything.

I would start out with 2400,initial 12 grains, load about 10-15 and run it through your chronograph. Never used the Ranier bullet but, I am sure someone has. You can always ask on the CMP
reloading forum.

Got lucky at the gun shop. They had some W296. That was the only one they had that I had load data on. JW

Attempting to drive these as fast as jacketed bullets will almost certainly result is excessive leading and contamination of the gas system. I had some .351 Winchester SL ammo loaded with Rainier plated bullets and they were just awful, leaded the bore so bad I could'nt even see the lands nor could I hit the broad side of a bulls arse with them. Don't know what they have now but as of 2 weeks ago Cabelas still had some Remington JSP carbine bullets.

I agree with Vintage. Keep the velocity down on plated bullets as you can strip the plating off them if you drive them too fast. Try about 1600 fps and you should be fine.

I haven't tried the Rainier bullets, but have fired several hundred rounds of the X-Treme 110g .30 Carbine copper plated, and they work fine - very accurate too. The Rainier's should work just as good. A lot of guys on the forum are using Berry's plated bullets with excellent results. You should be able load approx. 480 rounds per pound with the W-296. Let us know how those bullets work out.

I've used Berry's also With little trouble. The hardest thing for me was getting the die set right to get the case to hold the bullet tight and not crimp the plating on the bullet. JW

That shouldn't be a problem. You full lenght size, then you just touch the mouth with the bell so it doesn't shave the bullet. It sould hold tight and not crimp. You only have to close the casing up on the bullet. Don't go too far with it. I don't see your dies listed, I've had friends that had your problem and it was the dies. When I ran their cases through my RCBS dies, they came out perfect. Let us know how this goes...
