Lend Lease Garand
I have notice this rifle hasn't sold for a long time. It looks to be a very nice rifle and seems correct to me. Is this just too much money? The reason I ask is I have $4500 in my gun fund and I'm looking to buy a nice WWII SA(or one of the 20 other rifles I'm drooling over). It's hard to hold yourself back sometimes.

I can't be sure except from what I've seen. That one looks exactly like mine, only a few numbers earlier than. Mine's 328219. Everything's the same. I think it's probably worth what he has on it but no one else does...why's that?? I've already been offered $3000 US for mine...

If it sold on the CMP
Auction it would probably bring $6000.

No red paint?
Anymore I just figure out what the individual parts are worth and go from there. If they all happen to be flying in correct formation, that's worth a small bonus.

Very nice rifle. It may be a bit on the high side but it is a very nice looking rifle and not alot in that shape available. As they say "you can only spend to much to soon" or something like that. Meaning, what might seem a bit high today will seem like a bargain down the road.
Also I believe "Popernack" is a GCA
member and an honest dealer. I would feel pretty safe buying from him. I know if I had $ 4500.00 in "gun money" stashed away and needed / wanted a nice LL that rifle would have a new home.
I would not let the lack of "red paint" stop me as most original buyers removed the paint thinking it to be "ugly".

SA 328063 LL M1 Rifle
The rifle looks really good. I have one a few thousands earlier and SA 328063 seems to check out. I would ask to see the round firing pin and take a closer look at the RE 2 Bolt. That Bolt should have a small hole in the back of the right lug and the back lug face would appear to be polished. Also look for a small number or letter in the long channel slot.
The price is realistic for a rifle of this vintage.

Lend Lease bolt
Attachment 40852Attachment 40853Attachment 40854Photos show two new bolts, both revision 2 heat lots RE 2 and J9A . All revsion 2 bolts had the hole in the right lug as did the first revsion 12 bolt. Photos show how the bolts had the bolt face polished and the rear area of the lugs

The heat lot on that bolt is RE1 not RE2, which would be correct for an Aug. Sept. 1941 rifle.

The red paint appears to have not gone on every rifle sent over. They may have had a bunch in storage and didn't paint them as way to many have showed up with exact color match an no paint. Not everyone is that good at matching color to these. Mine was without a drop of red paint anywhere and the guard matched the gun perfectly. Rick B
