Time for a beer?
71 Years ago today, one of my uncles was slaughtered during the Alexandra Hospital Massacre, just a couple of days before the fall of Singapore. I have been trying to get a few jobs out of the way, at the same time cleaning and shining medals and embellishments on my uniform in preperation for a local commemoration ceremony, some of us have very long memories.
The big problem I'm having is that my preperations are being interfered with by the preperations of others. The boys at the local Airport keep buzzing the town with P51 Mustangs, Kittyhawks, Spitfires and various other warbirds from Pay's Warbird Museum.
I'ts not the flyovers that's annoying me, it's the fact that I keep stopping to watch that is effectively stuffing up my day.
Maybe I should just grab a beer and say a quiet prayer, offer a toast to the fallen and enjoy the flying displays.

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. I will offer an intercontinantal toast with the best beer I can find after work.
Cheers

Think of the fly overs as a additional tribute.
Is that Judy Pay's mob? I met her years ago whilst doing P40 work.

Yeah JM, Col was killed experimenting with water pickup for firefighting, his son runs the business now, his flying has improved a bit since the time he splattered Cols kittyhawk all over the pavement.

wow! Another bit of unknown mil history for me. Learn something every day. A tip of the glass to your uncle, and all those who lost their lives in the massacre. The Japanese
military were real bastards back then...
Enjoy the airshow. I was fortunate enough when I lived in Monterey CA to see the last Doolittle flyover they would do with B25s for his birthday. It was awesome!

I was not aware they were doing this. Awsome indeed!
There are several nice vids on youtube. Tried to post a link but no luck. Worth a look.

I saw what I believe to be the last Doolittle bomber fly over for his birthday. This was WAY back in ~1992/1993. LONG time ago!

I was sitting out on Lake Erie one day doing a bit of worm drowning when I heard this *THRUMing* it got louder and louder and then I made it out when a B-17 flew less than 200 feet over my head. It was coming from the Cleveland air show
