 new Inland

Just picked up a new Inland! By new, I mean NEW! Cost me a good bit, but what I got was an unissued 6.6M Inland with all matching original parts, as far as I can tell from Ruth's book. It's a late one with adjustable sights and type 3 band, but the sight is HI and the band KI. The cartouche is still crisp; I don't think the stock has ever been sanded. It was supposed to be a WW2 bringback, and judging by the layer of dust on it when I got it, it's been in a closet a long time. Came from the estate of a WW2 vet, so it has a believable provenance. With a little gun oil and linseed, the thing looks absolutely new, only a tiny rust spot on the buttplate at the top. Will post pics when I figure out how. I'm giggling like a 12 year old girl at a slumber party.....

Take the rifle and mail it to me and I'll post pictures for you. I might accidentally play with it before sending it back. Lol

Heck, I'm fighting off the desire to play with it myself! I've shot all my other ones, but this ones too sweet to get it dirty! Seriously, if this thing has ever been shot, it wasn't much. I'll work on pix tonight.

This was my first effort at posting pictures. Hope they are readable. BTW the rear sight is marked "PI" not "HI" . Never could type worth a damn.

Looks "new" to me. I like the receiver punch mark "through the finish," the blued round bolt, and everything about it! That's a nice CC on the stock too. I wanted to compare it to the one on my best Inland before I posted - but looks good to me. Here's a pic of the one on mine - not going to show you the "wallowed out" oiler slot.
Let's see what the pros think of it. - Bob

A WW2 bring back with an adjustable sight and bayonet barrel band? Sounds like a story too good to be true. It could very well be a WW2 gun issued late and brought back, it has all the right moves. She is a nice piece to be sure. Take good care of this one, she is special.
Dave

The Pacific war ended in Aug 1945. It is entirely possible to have arrived late after the surrender and showing up with a new carbine and sitting on Okinawa or Iwo until well into 1946. A lot of clean up, packing up and guard duty to do. Not to mention occupation duty in Japan
. If a soldier arrived as part of a unit, having your weapon with you upon arrival is a possibility.
