M1 Garand and Reloder 15.
Gents,
Need opinions on using Reloder 15 in the M1, 155gr and 168gr BTHP, Hornady and Nosler bullets. Load data would also be appreciated. Thanks, 1903shooter

Rx 15 has a moderate slow burning rate similar to 4320. It may be a little on the slow side for a Garand. It is slower burning than 4064, the powder normally considered the "slowest" for use in a Garand.

worked very well for me
much better than I thought. no problems. about same results as Varget. I am pretty sure I was at least two grains under max and it functioned and ejected normally. unless you have an adjustable gas plug, you may not want to venture much higher.

I will second the good results with RL15. I use it exclusively in my garand. I do not have the load data handy but I am using Winchester FMJ/BT's. Accuracy is in my collector HRA is outstanding and no problems with function at all.
I tried using it one reloading session to cut down on the # of different powders I use and never looked back. Your mileage may vary with your bullet selection though.

Hey Mr.1903, I can share what I can. Hornadays load data shows RL-15 for 168g as follows.
43.2=2300fps
44.6=2400fps
46.0=2500fps
47.5=2600fps{ max charge,use with caution }
they don't show RL-15 with a 150/155. but I can say I have used the hornaday 150bt-fmj with very good results. best I got was N-135 at 47.5g. sorry but Idon't remember the OAL, but ALL the canalure was still showing. I loaded to the bottom of the canalure, yes it looks funny, but shoots GREAT. for whats its worth, yesterday I shot some M-2 pull down bullets with Varget, 45g's worked really well. Hornaday shows data with Varget with the 150bt-fmj {which is close to RL-15} the following is with varget.
42.3=2400fps
44.2=2500fps
46.2=2600fps {max charge, use with caution }
this info came from Hornaday "for an M-1 Garand " not a bolt gun, most loading info is for bolt guns and will show higher charges. hope this helps.
