What kind of Springfield bayonet do I need?
Hello,
I am searching for some Springfield 1903 accessories for a friend. His rifle's serial number is 1439293, which I date to late 1933, and the barrel date is 9-33. So, the question is, of all the variations of the M1905 bayonet, which would be most appropriate? Considering scabbard material and cut down or not etc. I hope someone who knows these can help me out! Thanks in advance.

The bayonet in use in 1933 was the M1905 made by Springfield or Rock Island Armory. The scabbard was the M1910, or modified M1905. There were no official cut down bayonets until about 1943.

Scabbard could also be the 1917, lots of 1905 bayonets in 1917 scabbards.

I agree with both above. I'd just be tempted to find a nice 1905 with the canvas covered 1910 scabbard...1918 shouldn't be too hard to find...

I agree on the canvas 1910 scabbard. It just looks more appropriate.

Thanks to you all! I also agree that the canvas scabbard looks better, however, price is definitely a factor so I'll get whatever is reasonable to me. As a side note, the M1907 leather sling would also be appropriate? Thanks again.

1907 sling with an early date. Brass frogs too. That'll cost a pretty penny...

Might want to look at the canvas WWII slings if cost is a factor. A nice 1907 sling will cost more than a 1910 scabbard.
