Arsenal rebuild? Parkerized finish matches all components, color, age, etc.
thanks alot for the photo help
The parkerized finish on the bolt and most of the small parts and the small bow guard leads me to believe the rifle was rebuilt. The barrel appears to be the correct date for that s/n range and is probably original. The stock may have been changed at the rebuild or subsequently. Usually a depot or arsenal marked the stock. The "K" in the cutoff notch is the mark of the manufacturer, Keystone.
Weaver made the 330 in a number of variations. The principal variations had to do with the W&E adjustment knobs. The 330C, later militarized as the M73B1 had knurled knobs with click stops. The 330S (silent) which is what you have got used a screwdriver adjustment. There is no evidence that the 330S was used on the A4 although some appear to have been used on optical intruments such as boresighting apparatus associated with firecontrol radars.
Glad the pics worked out. If you scroll to the bottom of the reply page you will find an option to link directly to photobucket. Using photobucket will make posting larger files (pictures) much easier.

Jim

M1Cghost: Go to the top of this forum (M1903) and you'll see a "sticky" from Rick the Retired Librarian. He has some useful tips on taking photos, especially about cropping to make your file sizes smaller.

That will openn a screen with a copy of this message and a toolbar at the top. One of the buttons looks like a paper clip (attach) - click on it.
that will open a box entitled "manage Attachments" with about 10 lines on it. Each line has the word "Browse" on the right side. Just click on "Browse" and go to the folder where your pics are stored. select the pic you want and upload it to the site. (Note: this technique had some limitations on the number and size of the files.) Its best to use small Jpeg files.
You can still use a photo hosting site like Photobucket and paste the image URLS to your messgae.
Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.

Jim

I found that I can enlarge the thumbnails by clicking on them, but can't see much detail.
The serial number is righteous, the barrel is probably original. The scope is commercial, but it's OK until you can find a "correct" one. The rifle appears to be an arsenal rebuild with a more recent New Old Stock Keystone replacement stock. Looks like the scope rings are commercial high polish blue, rather than the rough greenish park USGI rings. Can't figure out what that yellow circle on the right side is.

What was the walk-in price? It still sounds as if you have a bargain! The undebatedly "correct" M73B1 scopes are not cheap.
