I know my eyes are more "side light" than "full beam" these days but that serial number on the wrist sure as hell looks stamped to me????

I can also see an Inspectors mark at the side of the bolt in the shot showing the scope serial.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

A couple of novice observations. Did Long Branch mill the receiver side wall where the front pad would be attached as H&H did? Don't see any signs of it on this one.
It doesn't look like the front pad area was prepared very well before soldering, patches of blueing showing through where the solder didn't take.
Discoloration around where front pad would be hint at it being epoxied in place while the holes were drilled.
You experts correct me if I'm wrong, cause I probably am.

Thanks for everybody's input I had noticed the c in the wrong place but not the serial number it does look engraved and stamped or neatly stamped then sloppily stamped I'm inclined to think its the real deal .Who would make a fake and then ruin it by sporterizing it and putting a after market scope mount.I dont know how to post pic but IL try when i get my grubby little hands on it.

Paul, being inclined to think something is the real deal and knowing for a fact it is are two different things. From what I've read so far the jury is still out. I asked what I did mostly for my own education because I need to know. One of these days I plan on adding a LB T to my collection and I want to be damn sure I can tell if it's real or not. Just give it some time and the more knowledgeable members will sort it out for you. We all hope it turns out to be real. If you plan on restoring it and proceed with just the belief it's genuine you may in the end wind up with nothing more than an expensive restored fake. The parts to make up fake No.4T have been around long enough now until it wouldn't surprise me to learn that they are as numerous as the originals.

Hello Paul, you've been very obliging for pictures, I wonder if you could post one of:

    - the complete left side of the receiver out of the wood. (I'm interested in your sear stop and whether the hole comes all the way thru the receiver). Or the opposite side of this one: https://www.milsurps.com/attachment....3&d=1367612907
    - more of the trigger assembly.

I'm very intrigued by your sear stop and trigger assembly.

    Thanks D

Good observations. Long Branch receivers are generally very accurately machined. No doubt it was not found necessary to machine a flat for the pad. The residue around the area could be anything, including an attempt by Bubba to re-attach the pad at some point. I doubt anything like epoxy was used at LB as it would have needed to be removed before soldering.

Whoever gets it should dig hard to find that front pad. Might still be in Bubba's basement somewhere. Let's hope he put it in the butt trap!

Had thought that it was removed when the new mount was attached. But who knows how many owners ago that was?
