Well credit for not being a bear defense thread.I'm guessing you're not on many hunting forums. Obviously .30 Cal has taken uncountable bipeds over the years, so take your choice. If one were wanting a little more reassurance, .338 is a popular big bear cal in Alaska. By that extent .35 and .375 would be good choices. and of course the 45-70 in a compact guide gun would likely be Ideal considering terrain.
