I don't know either but they are killers at both ends! The flame is at least six feet at dusk. My son has one we shoot a lot. They are very accurate as long as you have the bayonet extended. Fun gun and cheap to shoot! My 91/30 is nowhere near as punishing as the M44!
Littlejohn, welcome to Milsurps.com! Glad to have you with us. I did notice the rubber recoil pad so that just has to help somewhat!

I don't mind the Mosin carbines with regular ball, but the heavy ball is a bit punishing. Outstanding fireball though!!!
