    S.N.

Bought 3 years ago in near mint state: a LB No.4 Mk.1*.
All numbers on wood, receiver, bolt and magazine matching the number 43L56xx. I replaced the simple 300/600 flip-up sight with a standard Britishicon Mk1. Barrel bands, butt-end and magazine are nicely grey manganized. Grooved upper wood. 2-groove barrel, but a crack shooter.

Additional info to above 1st post.

Here are the actual full longbranch serial #'s I have :-

1943 No4 mk1* 30L2325 matching barrel 5 groove, looks to be original LB barrel but is marked with large R see pictures, it also has been index marked with a chisel thru both. This rifle has some other faint marks on the wrist, A large Broad arrow just below the safety, and beside this in the upper RH corner is a small T and a large 8, very faint. Looks like previous owner was intending on re-bluing it and got fed-up. Other marks are covered by posted photo's, see my photo's.
I have listed this, in other 1950 listing but here it is again just in case 1950 No4 mk1* 91L8478 as new 5 groove fish tail safety, blued. I'll get the wife to take some shots of both, when I get the 43 finished if there's anything else, I'm happy to supply any info where I can.
I have one other rifle a No 4 mk1 maltby action, but all wood work and many other parts are longbranch, wood #'d to rifle and painted green to fight the Jap's, if it's of interest let me know # is AT 1xxxx, looks to have been built or rebuilt by Longbranch.

New to me. Original info ground and polished off and neatly pencilled replacement. You can see where it dips in but leaves the 1944 intact almost. S/N matches elsewhere. shiny black finish, Parker hale fr. sight, Sling loops and PH marked under bolt lever on receiver. Nice wood Monte Carlo stock, plastic butt pad.
Didn't know it was a Longbranch till I looked up the serial numbers here.
Doesn't have Parker Hale on barrel but everything points to one

Gbalke - it's a Parker Hale 5C aperture sight (aged 1946). Some time ago I bought this one from a guy from South Africa on Ebay. You can find a lot of information about Parker Hale aperture sights on:

    http://www.rifleman.org.uk/PH_Service_sights.htm

It's very pleasent to shoot with especially on long ranges.

LB guns listed as in Wellington New Zealandicon, with some notes, taken from auction listings.

1L4131 has a x4 pecar scope fitted, possibly ex-NZ police
    17L4740 (1942) mk4 1* as issued.
    5L5105 300/600yd sight fitted.
63L3553 tired, sporterised...aftermarket scope rail, looks like ex FTR, ie a mk1 or mk1* upgraded to a 1/2 or a 1/3 (has classic armourers 1/2round stock patch for rear of forestock screw/bolt) cant tell if its a full FTR for sure as the scope mount bracket hides the original markings.

LB gun with what appears to be a 1/2 or 1/3 upgrade

I've seen that there were two post regarding S/N 20Lxxxx

I have just bought one here in Australiaicon and was chasing more information.

I know it was manufactured around 1942 and 95% original components with a new genuine LB Barrel never been fired and the rest of the gun is in excellent condition for it's age (I would say better than excellent!)
does anyone know anything more about this S/N model?

All the components are stamped with 'LB' except for the magazine and sling loops (savage) easy to replace with genuine.

I paid $675 AUD which was a fair price considering the location of sale and the condition.

I'd l like to know if possible how many of this particular S/N were made and how many LE's were made in 1942?

    Hi Bareclaw,

I have just bought a LB 20Lxxxx (still awaiting police clearance)

I bought it in Australiaicon. Where did you buy yours?
    $675AUD in 2013

    You say 1941? I thought the S/N 20Lxxxx were 1942?
