Picked up a second M1 carbine - I.B.M.
New member here, but long time member on NES, GB, K98k
, and ParallaxBill. I have a 27 piece C&R collection, mostly German and American rifles and pistols of WWI and II.
I took my son (11.5) shooting for the first time at the end of June - he used my N.P.M. carbine. After all the teaching, he couldn't hit at 50 yards, but did well at 25. However my club does not allow larger than pistol rounds at 25, so that means one of won't be shooting much. What's a dad to do? Buy another carbine. I found an ex-CMP I.B.M. for a reasonable price. Already had an I.B.M. hand guard, recoil plate, and bolt. Pouch is a '43 S. FROHELICH. Trigger group and op-rod are SG. Stock is a SA M2 potbelly. I'll be looking to switch that out with a M1 as I prefer the slimmer stock (ad posted in WTB).
The N.P.M. has a U.S.
S. subcontract receiver, S.J stock, N.P.M. hand guard, Inland trigger group and Underwood op-rod. Bonus goodies are Utica M4 bayonet with M8A1 scabbard, M3 hider.flash,'43 D.M. Shoe pouch, and L.O.B. '43 experimental engineer holster.
I've just had surgery to reattach a tendon to my shooting elbow, and hopefully in a couple weeks, we'll set out again.

Nice little carbines, both of them.

Welcome to the forum. You started out great, with pictures.
One word of caution. Two can turn into twenty quicker then you might think.

Would be nice, but I have 11 rifles and 12 pistols stuffed into a 16 gun stack on (misleading; 9 slots with shelves installed). Enough room for the CMP
FG/SA coming - got the DBU email 7/3. It's for the kid when he's old enough, before CMP runs out. Still need a matching K98k
. The antiques are hanging over the doors or in the glass cabinet. The M35 Beretta carry piece is in a lock box in the bedroom.

Carbine stock (only) supplied for I.B.M.; used, nothing fancy, JL-B, LW-B, SC-B, MB-B.
There's been some IBM stocks on eBay recently, but as you're probably aware, buying one there can be a "crapshoot." It's safer if you can find one with really detailed pictures of all the critical areas and an inspection period - those can be the most expensive, though. Good Luck! - Bob
