What I have is a FN M1950 carbine, this much I know. The rifle is a sweet, cherry little thing but I am perplexed. It seems to be a Dutch or Moroccan carbine as it is marked Politie on the receiver ring as it should be. No other identifying marks and the serial number on the bolt is very worn but appears to match.
Here's the kicker, it is in 7x57mm which if my research is correct means it should have been an early Colombian contract as they later converted the 7s to 30-06 plus all the Colombians had crests and no Dutch Police markings. The barrels on these rifles are not serial numbered but all of the Belgium proofs are there and the barrel seems to be original to the rifle by the looks of it.
It shoots well and it's just a dang good looking carbine. My idea is this could be a mismatch barrel on a Dutch rifle or a mismatched receiver on a Colombian rifle. Ideas?
