Fred Powers in Florida was selling bands just like these a few years back. He insisted they are real but I have my doubts.

There is an extensive article in CC newsletter # 346 INLAND’S FIRST SERIAL NUMBER BLOCK that covers early barrel finish and barrel band.
The band is not parkerized, it is blued over a roughened (sandblasted) surface. If you are familiar with two tone Inland receivers; they did the same process to early barrels. The barrel/receiver shows the difference in the roughened area and from the muzzle back to about 2 inches in front of the gas cylinder including the front sight and band. The finish is dull not shiny like the rest of the barrel. They were blued as an assembly not as individual parts.
The pictures of the b/r serial 189,--- show its original band and the one in question for comparison.
The other pictures are a NOS Inland Barrel Assembly dated 1-43, it is covered with cosmoline
. I wiped some off in a couple areas to show the rough texture of the blued finish.
