Off at a tangent a bit but has anyone on the forum actually fired a LIVE grenade from one, using a balastite cartridge?

Or failing that, what about firing off a drill/inert grenade using one with balastite? Nope....., me neither. No94 Energa but not No36!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Not that it matters but discovered the rifle has the mag cut-off slot but is blocked by the stock, which is obviously not original to the rifle. Sure would've been a nice feature nonetheless.

Not so with yours. It has been modified from the early Mk3 spec to Mk3* spec, marked accordingly and had a higher sided fore-end fitted to 'prevent the ingress of foreign bodies' as the wording goes. Keep it as it is. It tells a great story and many people would die for a genuine 'as-is' EY rifle in their collection

Really the only reason I bought it. Plus its all-matching. Not many 100 yr old rifles that look that good.
