I have a polytech M14s. It has been a good rifle. The bolt issue aside, a polytech or a norinco is a fine rifle for a fraction the cost of a "American" made rifle. Many will say a Chinese rifle is junk. Not so. The norinco will have a drop forged receiver. A Springfield Armory won't. I like a chrome lined barrel (i shoot a fair bit of corrosive ammo),which my Chinese rifle has. Not so the Springfield. By and large a norinco is built to USGI spec, so parts can be interchanged. I've talked to a gentleman in Naples who has extra parts. I'll send you his name and information if I can find it.
Sorry, I have a rabbit of carrying on on a somethings. Just don't let most of us Americans talk you out of a perfectly good rifle, just because it wasn't made in America. I envy the Canadians for still being able to get a new norinco.
