    Carbine field test bolt

I found a carbine field test bolt today, as well as several headspace gages. Found a picture of one in War Baby Comes Home, page 659 but there was no explanation of what or how its used. Anyone have any ideas about one of these, use? or value?

I have one. For a carbine closing on a field gage, the test bolt allows you to determine whether it is the bolt or the receiver which has worn beyond normal limits. As to "value", I've seen sold prices range between $100-200.
