The first one on this CE1967 labeled foreend had one side of th draws cut 1.4mm too much so about 1/4 to 1/3rd of one draws didnt have support, I added a 1.4mm piece of rimu.

Second is the rimu cross piece

3rd is the finished rear end, I made a wee oops cutting one D piece too deep.

    d piece close up, rimu

laser line lineup on my bosche chop saw to cut the back piece out to clear the trigger so its a 1/2 not a mk1

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Here im using 0.75mm alloy shim to determine the tightness of the draws, think I need a bit more shim. You can see the rimu I added to fix the badly cut replacement wood. The barrel channel also fitted badly I had to dremell and hand sand to get 20thou clearance all along the barrel

If no one knows what rimu is its known as southern hemisphere oak, though I think its softer than English Oak. It has lovely grain but not as strong as "real" oak and splinters go septic easily (for me).
