1stLee: Looks like one or more of these are Enfield view marks- ie. stamped by an examiner or inspector at Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield. Enfield did not manufacture No. 4 rifles (other than the so-called trials rifles in the thirties) so it must have been through some kind of refit there. The original manufacturer should be evident on the left cheek or left side of the action body.

Yes it is the barrel on my 19943 Long Branch that was F(FTR) marked. I believe the barrel was changed out because there are no matching LB marks. I was wondering what the marks where on it are related to. Thanks

It is an Enfield barrel made in 1947 and the marks are just Enfield examiners, steel batch and proof marks. Enfield made barrels to keep the skilled p[art of the workforce busy/productive while running down the unskilled and temporary wartime workforce. Just basic economics really

Thanks. That is actually a 42 it is stamped 3 different times. Only on one of the marks was it stamped clearly. I used a 10x jeweler loop to see they are all clearly a 42. Thanks for the help I was wondering if that was the year. Thanks again

Even Gary's interpretation looks like 1947 to me but there you go! Enfield must have been making replacement barrels in 1942!

Yes when i use my jewelers loop those are all 42 marks. They just did not get a complete stamp on the bottom of the 2 on the top 2 stamps. the one at the bottom of the three stamps is this on in a different pic. Look at this oneAttachment 45795 I rotated the pic, it is the bottom mark of the 3 42 marks.
