Explain the follower part please. the bolt and receiver match serials. As long as the cocking piece works i don't intend to replace it.there's a P on the safety.

I think its a F on the safety latch, P would be Pakistan and that seems wrong to me, though possible I suppose, but I'd expect a bigger hole drilled in the safety catch and for it to be a different shape. That particular safety I have listed as a mid-war piece...so many of the parts look original........
If the number on the bottom of the mag matches serial number then the mag should be original. The follower is the shaped plate the cartridge(s) sits on....that might have an F on it as well as maybe does the mag itself. If it indeed the mag is original then,
"I think it has Fazakerley, Liverpool written all over it"
I'd go with that.
Anyway the main thing is to enjoy it.....my 3 no4s are all faz....I shot 2 of them on Saturday and I sucked, but had a lot of fun.....

According to our little book of markings, P in a circle or on its own is ROF Poole in Dorset. Unless there is one in Pakistan too!
The safety catch is the INNER part of the two-part manual safety mechanism. The outer or lever part that you actually rotate with your thumb is the LOCKING BOLT

I'd consider a serial numbered magazine body to be Post WWII marked, generally. At least with rifles from early on in the war.

Can't see the picture too well but my guess is that it's a 1942 BSA.

+1 That was my first thought as well.

That's three votes for BSA. Two for Fazackerly. I'd vote again after looking more today, but still would like some more detailed shots of the LH butt socket area.

Jmoore the butt socket left side only has 1942 and the serial on it nothing more.

Isn't that a B stamped above the 1942 date or am I seeing things. If so, it's definitely a BSA.
