    Poor - $200
    Fair - $500
    Good - $1200
    Very Good - $1850
    Excellent - $2500

No rifle with a ground mum rates Excellent. Very few rifles with a ground mum would rate Very Good, especially with pitting. After that, without photos and or holding it in your hands it's a crap shoot and the variables from $200- $1200 are great.

I sold one on Gunrunnerauction.com for $1,000.00 about a year ago. Yours sounds a lot like mine. Mine didn't have matching serial# front to back half. Mum was ground but some still showed.

the break apart two piece paratroopers bring a premium price even in bad shape at any gun show or auction i have ever seen 1 at, i would hold onto it for a while longer, the bolt action rifle market is going through the roof right now with the semi auto bans in some states coming and all the talk of them being passed in other states, paratrooper 99s are hard to find that are actually still are operational. I was you keep it.
