The carbine looks nice. No way to tell if it is an M-2 or not. All you can see is a 30 round magazine.

I'm guessing the picture is posed. I don't know of anyone who would wear a ring on both fingers and not buckle their helmet if in combat.

INteresting. It refers to it being effective in close combat in Germany in 1945. First writen primary source I have seen on M2 in Europe in WWII.

That's how I read it too. But they ARE referring to it being in action in Europe.

Great chunk of wood on that carbine. We need to lighten up on Woody, He may have taken a couple for the team and is now training folks back home. The CC issues a while back had several accounts of the M2 (either legit or field modified) being used with great success in Italy in the closing months of the war.

There were several versions of the M1 carbine that were modified into M2 type carbines done in Europe on a company level. But the real M2 carbines appear to have never made it into combat in Europe and didn't appear till the war was over with Germany. The did appear in the Pacific and were used no later then the Okinawa campaign and did see action in the Philippines.
