Maltby FTR volume Vs. Fazakerly FTR volume

Just picked up my first Maltby FTR'd rifle to fill a hole in my collection that has five or six Fazakerly FTR'd rifles.

I started wondering how many Rifles went through the FTR process at ROF (M) as compared to the number that went through FTR at ROF (F).

Anyone have any info on this?

I don't remember seeing many at all and I suspect very few because actual rifle production at Maltby ceased in early '45, before the war ended (as I seem to remember but feel free to correct me if you've got the docs/date handy.....) and after a period of slack/just parts manufacture (they didn't make all the parts in-house either!) they went to a FTR programme. Maltby closed all rifle maintenance and repair shortly after and closed down completely shortly after the war so that the skilled men there and those returning to the area could return to the coal industry. It was the first small-arms factory to close

im wondering if you were noting you had a maltby rifle that went thru FTR , and possible thought that might indicate it had gone thru it at maltby ? most went thru that after the war at FAZ

(1) Yes, I was.

(2) It's stamped with the Maltby FTR marking

The Maltby FTR mark is pretty hard to mistake for anything else.

INcidentally, the old MoS factory at Maltby is now owned by SANDVIK the saw makers. Before they took over the factory from the previous owners, HACK saw. Form which the generic name hack-saw was named/derived.

Nothing at all to do with Enfields of course but just thought you'd be interested to know!!!!! Another useless bit of Enfield related info though......
