Reloading.....Is it an addiction?

Had conversation with a guy at the range this weekend and range brass came up which led to reloading in general. I asked him does he abscess over components like I do, yes!! he said. Another fellow over heard an chimed in that he does too. We were laughing at the fact that you never feel like you have enough of anything.!! I can have 2K large rifle primers, 4lbs of powder, 500 bullets and I say to myself "gotta get more!!" You know what I mean.??

Another thing that makes me question the need for a shooters 12 step program is the fact that although I'm King of my castle and don't require nor seek the approval of my wife, I hide some of my purchases like I'm doing something wrong.!!

So, is anybody else in the same boat.?...

Surprised more guys haven't chimed in, I know I'm not the only one.

I am hooked like a crack junkie.

Have over 20,000 primers, small/large rifle, pistol and that is about the only item I am not looking for at the present.

Always looking for more bullets, especially in .308 as probably down to less than 600 as since I bought my son a Savage FCP K it gets shot most days at the range.

Spent time last week cleaning, neck sizing, trimming and priming every single .303 case I own.

Did the same for .308 also and have hundreds ready to go.

Bought two spam cans of copper wash 39 in the last month, just in case I might need more. Had 6 cases of regular 39 surplus.

An addiction???? YES. Especially when you first start.
Step back, take a deep breath, don't Abscess...or is that obsess, about all this. It's going to be alright. You just have to get a grip on yourself . Before making a purchase ask yourself three Questions:

1) Do I really need more ( whatever you are thinking of buying) ?
2) Can I afford it now or should I pay the rent ?
3) Can I conceal this new purchase from the wife ?
Remember when mamma ain't happy ...nobody is happy , and that means you. Even though reloading is fun...sleeping with a contented wife is more fun. ( the sofa gets old fast )

Find my life is much simpler now that your number 3 is no longer a factor. Divorce is expensive, sometimes very expensive but in the long run I am so much better off when I am the only one spending my hard earned money. To be honest I don't know a lot of people who are truly happily married and with the divorce rate in Canada hovering around 50% I am somewhat in a normal situation.

I really enjoy my firearms hobby addiction and have met so many great people because of it. We have meetings on a fairly regular basis, at the range where all get to tell their stories.

Gosh I'm not sure what to say. I've been unloading things I'm pretty darn sure I'm not going to need or use. A couple of years ago I bought a .338 Federal and of course I couldnt get any ammo or brass for the thing so I make it. I ended up buying a bag of .358 Win brass that I never used because after making up a quantity of .338 brass out of 30-06, .270 what ever range pick up I could find a dealer had some Federal .338 on the shelf so I bought 2 bags of it. Anyway, someone that needed the brass got it. My wife is good with just about everything I want to do so buying isnt a problem except to me. I have to feel a need to have some or else I wont buy much of anything, in a way I'm a saver. I have reached the age where it's time to start to decide whats going and whats not. I just took 3 nice Lyman ricever sights to my dealer the one for the FN is already sold and the other two soon to be. Would I still buy a good deal? you bet your but I would, a good deal is always a good deal and to make a couple of bucks to go fishing or hunting on is always in my sights.

I pickup brass all the time for calibers I don't have. Plastic bags and storage space are cheap compared to what I may find myself doing/paying to play with a new toy.!!
You gave brass away.? I'm just not there yet in my recovery..
