Look for a "low wood" forend, they were originally going to have cutoffs so the forend were cut to suit.

how many grooves in the barrel? any stamps on it?

six groove and a small savage s with a "p" and a 2 in a circle the flaming bomb and all the brit proofs on the barrel. and it looks like a nice blue on the barrel where the wood covered it.

Nice find in original finish by the look of it. Well worth restoring. Look for a MkI forend with the magazine cutoff relief.
