A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. We used to call a pistol the last means of mechanical defiance on the battlefield. Then we decided that this accolade really belonged to a bayonet. But later........... a pistol with a bayonet! Which begs the question in this example......, why not just shoot the man? And if YOU ain't got any bullets, HIS mates presumably WILL have some - and you're getting the next one! Just my thoughts

By the time of the little .38" replacement, common sense had prevailed

Whatever you do, don't be tempted by one of the shoulder stocks, they are for the flare pistol and many have been adapted to fit on the MkVI.

Never even heard of that, thanks for the advice.

I always assumed the pistol bayonet was a reaction to the brutality of trench fighting. I know that men made "trench clubs" so there must have been a fair amount of hand to hand. I just watched "The Trench" with Daniel Craig not long ago, and Gallipoli. The Frontline Experience the Jeremy Irons movie. I think both are on youtube.

i like the looks of that , the reproduction looks very real , very much like the original , i once considered one myself , but every time i got the coins together another item on my list screamed "ME FIRST - IM NEXT" , congrats , i like it

good call on that flair gun stock , they were getting 'pushed' back when at the unsuspecting ,
