    Hello Everyone

Just a few lines to introduce myself. I've been involved with firearms since I was a boy, I was born in Enfield Middlesex and lived in Enfield Lock until immigrating to western Canadaicon. Needless to say, I have a thing for anything that came from the RSAF at Enfield Lock. Four generations of my family worked there, so it was inevitable that I'd get the gun bug. I trained as a gunsmith for a number of years but work in oilfield construction in Alberta, it's not as interesting but it pays a lot more, the reality of raising a family took precedence.

I've visited this site a number of times and have always been impressed with the amount of knowledge and practical advice that I've found here. I thought it was about time I stopped lurking and signed up. I hope I can bring some of my experience here and more importantly, learn from yours. I'm looking forward to talking with all of you and sharing in our chosen hobby.

PS I like all milsurps by the way, I'm an equal opportunity kind of guy lol

    Cronic

Hi all. New member here and I just wanted to say hello. My number one interest here is anything relating to the M1icon carbine. I first handled one when I was 16 years old. A friend of mine just showed up one day and showed me this nice looking Underwood his grandpa just passed down to him. We laughed about the name "Underwood" because we thought of the deviled ham product of the day. Neither of us knew anything about the history of the rifle and the only thing we could think to do was go shoot it, which we did a lot of that day.
I am here to tap the vast knowledge of the members here for anything M1 related.

    Hello all,

Hello to all. This is my first post. I think I have been bitten by the vintage military hardware bug. Through a friend I have picked up a few old pieces over the last few weeks. A Garandicon, a .30 Carbine, and a 1917 Enfield. Well, it got me to thinking about the "partial" '03 Springfield that has been sitting in the back of my safe for years. It is a Rock Island 24XXX serial number. I think it was a unfinished project gun of mu uncle. Action seems ok, barrel has some surface rust (no original finish on barrel), the stock looks to be a modified original as if the intent was to make a sporter out of it. No rear sight or sight collar, modified front sight.
I know, the first response will be "see a qualified gunsmith" to see if it is worth fooling with. I was just curious with that serial # was it potentially valuable?
Thanks in advance and I hope to talk to you much more.
