DAS stocks are now bringing in well over $300.00 a piece
I had no idea. Now I don't feel so bad about buying the three piece set for $85 CDN a few years back...

(M1 Garand/M14/M1A Rifles)
I was at a gun show yesterday. I saw probably twenty stocks at several different tables. NONE had any cartouches left. They'd all been sanded down. I asked one of the dealers if these were CMP
rifles and he replied, "Oh no. These are all from collectors. CMP has dried up. No more rifles." No cartouches, though.
Most stocks were selling for $75.

Yes, Rick, I remember your lonely fight at the time. Initially, many of us just regarded it as yet another bad fake in a long line of them. The real impetus for GCA
was the revelation that the faker was a GCA member. Then we had to nail it down totally. The Association had a lot at risk and had to get it right, so we were as thorough as we could get. The same caution applied in our exposure of that fake M1C with the forged documents from a notorious crook down South. We spent months accumulating evidence to prove conclusively what we knew to be true.

Interesting. You guys have done a great service to collectors in doing what you can to expose the fakers out there. It is appreciated.

Fakers
When I was Chairman of GCA
I very badly wanted to set up a legal fund to attack fakers in court whenever the victim was a member. Even if a conviction wasn't possible, the expense to the faker of defending against a suit would make the potential profit from faking not worth it. My dream was that being a GCA member would be like being a Roman citizen in antiquity -- don't abuse one or the guys with the SPQR flags would come tromping in and burn down your city. We went round and round on it for a year, but eventually there wasn't enough support because the risk was so high.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to look.
It looks good to me, for whatever that's worth.

After looking back at this I swear this is a 3/8th DAS but the size compared to the stock. It looks small or is it just that photo???? Rick B
