    "T" for tuning

"Pennsyl-Narnia" hit 45 degrees air temp yesterday, so I took my gear and experimental loads out to gather some data. A bright sunny day, vey light breezes, Range was cloaked in snow with few footprints.
Thought I would turn these into my first entries by imposing the correct target for the photos - 2 for 1! So class 3, a 1945 Shirley scopeless No4Mk1T with B&L 3000 scope.
Seated at the bench with front bag, sling and lots of layers on the shooter - yellow safety glasses to cut the snow glare.
The first group was "as out of the safe" - 5 x HXP 1975 to get started ,
The second target midway down the recipe tests = HXP brass, S&B primer 39g Varget pushing a Sierra 180g BTSP.

We both deserved a good rub down afterwards with an oily rag!

    black powder?

    question:

    Italianicon VV70/87/15.
It was originally a black powder rifle before it was sleeved down to a 6.5 Carcano, so....
Would this qualify as a black powder gun?

    Thank you

    cat 1 FR-8

    Greetings,

Here is my first (and hopefully my worst) entry
It is a Spanish FR-8, chambered for 7.62 NATO.
Group was a dismal 10-3/16 inches.
Shot at 100 yards, off a bench with fore end rest only - no cradle.
Ammo was a mixed bag of surplus; various arsenals & various years.
I expect that didn't help me too much, but it was all I could find.
First time it was out of the safe for several years, so it needed the exercise!

    cat 2 Swede M38

    Here is my next entry
It is a Swedishicon M38, chambered for 6.5x55.
It has a Lyman receiver sight, with a taller after market front sight.
I added a surplus Swede front sight hood, but I'm not to sure about the origins of the flash suppressor! I've been told those were actually used to catch the wooden bullet fragments and let them burn up. Makes a good story, but who knows.
Group was at 8-1/8 inches, the hood interfered with getting a good sight picture - too close to the blade so vertical stringing became a problem. Next time - no hood!
Shot at 100 yards, off a bench with fore end rest only - no cradle.
Ammo was PPU 139 gr FMJ BT.
Also first time it was out of the safe for several years, so it needed the exercise!
Good excuse to get the safe queens out & about!

    Need Ruling Please !

I need a ruling on this before I take it out to the range. Does my new rifle fit in category #4? It at one time was a “Full Auto” milsurp, converted (neutered) to “Semi Auto”. It stays the same caliber, original sights and included bi-pod, but does have a different barrel ( I will be replacing that with an original as soon as I can afford one). So if it is agreed this fits under the rules for category #4, I will be getting out to the range later this month to see what she will do.

    USGI (semi-auto converted) MODEL 1919A6
    Cal .30-06
