Good looking restore. I'm guessing it works perfectly now? They sure are a handful aren't they?

Nice work!
Have you managed to "proof-test" it yet?
Seeing that beast brought back memories of a "famous" lecture by our Assault Pioneer sergeant on the "Correct use of the chainsaw in close-quarter combat", delivered with a straight face to his young and impressionable audience. Utterly Pythonesque!
Just out of curiosity, especially given its size, is the bar oiler manual or "automatic?
Really wicked thought, how would it go with a "Kardoen" tuned exhaust as seen on smaller "racing" chainsaws?

I could not imagine standing at the end of that chain with all the saw dust coming your way and what if it breaks!!!

That should be "Kaarden", the clever East German
chap who rather spectacularly refined the tuned 2-stroke exhaust system in the mid '50s.
The factory team rider, Ernst Degener, decided that he could do better elsewhere and "diverted" from the track one day and somehow ended up learning Japanese
from Mr. Suzuki and friends.
There is a bit about this episode in Robbie Coltrane's excellent "rev-head" series, "Coltranes, Planes and Automobiles".
People put Kaaden pipes on dinky little model aircraft engines as well as chainsaws these days.
