Michael wasn't just one of those people who was knowledgeable, but willing to share that knowledge with others. After looking at all his wonderful pictures of his collection, I couldn't resist the urge to buy a Griffin & Howe-modified NRA Sporter. Michael spent long periods of time on the phone and email, confirming that it was what it was, and teaching me all the details. He sent me copies of much useful information and went way beyond the call of duty.

And this wasn't the only time, either! Rest in peace, Michael!

What a shame. He was doing such great work identifying and documenting the custom gunsmiths in prewar USA.
I was really looking forward to a second edition or additional volume of his book.
