I have achieved the “Holy Grail Triumvirate” (Picture Heavy)
It doesn’t seem that long ago when I wanted an 'Enfield' they used to be sold in the weekly magazine (exchange & Mart) for £80 and were bored out to 410 shotgun - time went by and eventually the Police allowed be to have a Firearm Certificate -so that was it - an exceptional Savage No4 Mk1* was in the cabinet.
I then found the old Jouster
Forum (before it was hammered by Spam) and found out there were actually a few different types of Enfield’s, time passed and the Enfield’s seemed to breed in the Gun Cabinet, A No2 Mk4*, followed by a No1 Mk3*, then a No5 Mk1, a BSA No7 Mk1 seemed to appear overnight, then a No4 Mk1/3 in 410 calibre – I just don’t know where they all came from.
During this period Jouster was closed down and most of the ‘members’ migrated to Milsurps (and here we have stayed) A wealth of knowledge was on offer and as my own knowledge increased I realised that there “were only three Enfield’s to have” – the Holy Grail:
The Enforcer – probably the most undervalued rifle in the Enfield family.
The No4 Mk1T – Overvalued – but what a history.
The L42A1 – Overvalued - but combined with its 4T heritage a real ‘must have’
Finances did not allow anything but dreams, (and there were always other peoples to look at and drool over) and I even resorted to building an Enforcer 'clone'. However things change and finances improved and an Enforcer was purchased, followed (the following year) by a 4T & I have now just picked up my L42A1
I have achieved the “Holy Grail Triumvirate”
For your interest and comment I show below a few pictures.
The CES is complete except for the pack of paper lens tissues.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Here are the 'additional' bits of the "Sniper CES" (as opposed to the "Rifle CES")
The watch is 1985 so is 'pushing it a bit'

Congratulations. Those are expensive dreams to me currently. We'll see what the future holds. I don't see them coming way down in value but maybe I'll strike it rich?
Cheers

Congratulations, Alan! The watch is RN issue by the way. That's the 0552 part of the number. Nice rifle and watch porn too.

I do not mean to stray off topic, however the watches on eBay item 151247725861 are very interesting. And yes - cost prohibitive.

+1 on the L96
The watch issued with the No4T rifle to snipers in Infantry Battalions was the "Watch, GS". I picked this one up a good while back. While looking for other "sniper issue" I found the price of issue wrist watches almost prohibitive, so didn't go any further...

Yes I got the 'pocket watch' for my "Air Ministry" (RAF) 4T so now need to find a equivalent for the L42

Edit to add - not sure that the last picture should be there - Oh-well I'll leave it there now.

Well done with the L42, when I purchased my one 15 years ago I paid £900 for a L42 & a Unissued No4 Mk2 together and it felt like a lot of money.

That was observant Gary...... You're right. An Army issue wristwatch will have the VAOS classification commencing W-10/xxxx-xx-xxx-xxxx. I remember that the old but magnificent Omegas used to be W-10/VB/10033 and occasionally you'd find them come through the system without the OMEGA on the dial but simply 10033. So there you go if you ever see one like that offered for sale. That and the Y-xxxxx serial number and it's an Omega G-10!
I used to, unlike Gary who still does....., repair these old mechanical G-10's and if I came in and there was a handfull of Omegas on my bench in the clean-room I knew it was going to be a week to savour
