Rhodders, An addition Stratton's list is a batch of Mk.1/2 rifles. These are the 'house cleaning' rifles done in the mid fiftys at BSA and Fazakerley. These all went through the FTR process, but rather than rearsenaling previously issued rifles, unused spares and good parts from failed rifles were used to create new rifles. The A prefix is used instead of the usual wartime convention or a PB, PF or UF prefix.

PS It may be that there are some Mk.2 action bodies involved, but my memory fails me at the moment.
