I don't think the US used an all metal scabbard since the Kragicon bayonet. Wood/leather/canvas/metal combinations, leather/metal combinaitons and plastic/metal combinations. I only have one of the first. ?Wood with a metal cap, wrapped in rawhide leather and inserted into a canvas cover. A bolo knife from WWI. The 1917 used a leather scabbard with a metal top, the 1913 used both and the plastic metal combo over it's long life.
