I sure bothers me when these guys just knock the rear sight off

so they get a good photo. They were not meant to be taken on and off and the staking gets messed up.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Sammy would have treated that carbine right..............
That receiver never knew where it would end up from the time it was made

    I think it's found a good home...

    Congrats Marcus

Where does the 7500 number come from? US&S was contracted to supply 108,000 receivers to Quality Hardware, and of that number 28,949 were delivered.

For those that don't have the book would you mind giving a brief account of the almost 75% rejection rate of the US&S receivers.

The page lists relative scarcity of some carbine variation. Shows 34 different variants and estimated quantity made.

    It states:

The following information was provided by ******** and reflects estimates of good carbines produced after allowing for scrap.

If the number is correct for UN-Quality, that was a lot of scraped receivers. BTW, UN-Quality was down at 22nd on the list.

The War Baby series books may not be something the casual person with one or two carbines would invest in. But someone with a bigger collection who may want a more in-depth explanation with a lot of pictures will find them valuable. And it does have errors, like any other book.
Not trying to push WB3, as it is a little pricey at $150, but it is 952 pages of information with 1,328 illustrations. And continues the efforts and information from WB1 (512 pages $70) & WB2 (386 pages $60).
