Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Lee Enfields having a inbuilt system to drain away monsoon rains entering down though the muzzle has already been quoted as gospel in another forum, Alan & I have just embellished it a bit.

I heard that this is why they put the funnel (sometimes mistakenly called a flash suppressor) on he end of the barrel. It's to help channel the water down the barrel quicker to assist in hydraulically cleaning the corrosive salts out of the barrel. That way they didn't have to carry cleaning equipment. The other holes merely helped to drain the excess.
